James E. Fainer - Principal Consultant / Founder

With a high honers degree in Electronic Systems Technology and Business Management, Mr. Fainer is a proven IT Leader with broad industry experience in fast-growth Fortune 500 and Forbes Global 2000 technology companies with industry experience in Higher Education, Health Care, High Technology Engineering and Manufacturing. This experience has given James the ability to successfully manage large technical operations and projects optimizing customer value through the enhancement of intra-departmental and customer relationships, and effective integration of Information Technology.

With his initial training as a Precision Measurement Electronic Laboratory Technician in a second tier electronics standards laboratory for the US Air Force, James accepted a position with Norden Systems (1986) working on the design of different RF and Microwave Radar automated test and validation systems. During his tenure at Norden, James evaluated the current trends in technology and predicted the enormous growth and impact that Information Technology was going to have on the future of business, so he decide to shift his career and became the Systems Manager for the Engineering Computing Facility (1990). It is in this position where James conceived and developed his first Network Management application that provided alpha-numeric paging for error state conditions and provided cross platform validation of availability for 50 plus Digital VAX computers and network printers.

In 1995, James joined eunetcom Information Systems as a Systems Integration Engineer were he was responsible for the design and support of Dun and Bradstreet's International Wide Area Network (WAN). Again looking for opportunities to improve process and performance, James proposed and implemented a network simulation laboratory that enabled the network support staff with the ability to replicate most network infrastructures allowing for pre-design analysis of new technologies and provided pre-implementation validation of new networks and configurations.

Identified as a technical leader in network technologies, Bay Networks (eventually purchased by Nortel Networks) recruited him to become a Territory Sales Engineer where he managed projects valued from several thousand dollars to multi-million dollars through the Request for Proposal (RFP), product evaluation, final network design, and installation phases. In this position James was recognized with Nortel Networks Honor Circle and New England Sales Engineer of the Year awards. Identified for providing high levels of customer value, service and technical leadership, James was offered the position of New England Systems Engineering Manager. In this position, James recruited, developed, evaluated and maintained a highly motivated and successful Sales Engineering team. As a result of developing a new hire peer mentoring and development assessment program in addition to creating and leading an intra-departmental customer value process, James earned Nortel Network's Northeastern District Manager of the Year award within the first year of holding this position.

Expanding his professional experience, James accepted the role of Network Operations Manager for Northeastern University's 40,000 node cabled and wireless data network and Cable TV service across 87 buildings in a 24x7x365 operation. During his tenure he was responsible for the expansion of network service presence, functionality and increased availability transforming network services to a 'utility' like service for all administrative, academic, research and student communities.
